Suggest Treatment For Fluctuations Of Body Temperature
I have a resident at a Nursing home that has been spiking a temperature starting in the evening. His normal baseline is 97.9F. He has a low grade fever during the end of the PM shift and by 10 he if flushed and working on a temp of 100.5 - 100.7. Giving him tylenol prn but the other night his temperature got as high as 102.8 - 103. Was putting on cool wash cloths to neck and forehead for the temp as well as his neck. He recently returned a 3 weeks ago from the hospital from a pseudo obstruction of bowels. By morning his temperature usually is back down to or close to normal where he seems to remain until the evening again.
HI Thank for asking to HCM I really appreciate your concern looking to the history given here I could say that, the first thing you need to do is keep the temperature chart of every three hours this could give some ideas, second routine blood test is also equally necessary to rule out the possibility of infection, take care and have a nice day.
