Suggest Treatment For Fractured Ball And Socket Joint Of The Shoulder

My mother is 91 in good health generally walks approximately 2 klm a day. Yesterday she fell broke her left arm and shattered the ball joint in her shoulder. My brother was told that they will not do anything to repair either the break or the shoulder. I am of the opinion that the shoulder could be fixed which will allow mum more freedom. May I have your opinion on possible solutions Thank you Irena Butler

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Surgical fixation will be the treatment of choice. If the fractured segments are adjacent to each other, conservative treatment can be attempted. Consult an orthopedic for expert opinion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
