Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am a 54 yo female and I have been having occaisional chest pain for a couple of years. The pain is in the upper left chest area and feels like dull to sometimes sharp relatively concentrated pain. It usually comes on after stress or excercise. I had a traditional stress test a couple of years ago, but there were no irregularities in my ECG. I just had a Nuclear stress test with the same results. Today, I walked on my home treadmill for 30 mins and my chest pain returned. That was 3 hours ago and my chest is still tender, especially when I breathe deeply. I am trying to research this so I can stop worrying about heart problems that do run in my family. I just found info on the condition costochondritis . What do you think? Thanks, Dianne

Suggest Treatment For Frequent Chest Pain
Hello, If the ECG is normal the symptoms are probably related to costochondritis. Costochondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage of the rib cage. I suggest using nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen (Motrin IB) or naproxen sodium (Aleve) which are available over the counter. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
