Suggest Treatment For Frequent Seizures

Whatever condition I have, It is getting worse and bringing me down in every way. I have severe seizures. But I was DX of that as a child, but they have become really bad now. I am seriously dizzy, I can t remember anything. It was long term and now all of a sudden it is short term as well. I is so hard to live this way. I currently have DVTs and no energy. My legs just don t work. I can t get into the bath tub because of falls. I just have to sit on the side. My body hurts all over. I guess from falls from seizures. My seizures last for long times and I m sure sure that has taken some of my brain. I don t know what to do. It seems like all of my body is envolved. I need helped. Robin

Hi,

First and foremost, DVT itself is a significant cause of the worsening of seizures. Headaches and seizures along with vomiting and generalized weakness are the most common features of DVT. If your symptoms have exacerbated since the DVT, I would suggest that you focus completely on the treatment of DVT.

You may find that once the DVT has settled, your seizures frequency may be reduced to the prior frequency. Secondly, you have had childhood seizures. I would really like to know what the syndromic diagnosis was, that was made at that time. What were the MRI and/or EEG reports like? What was the treatment that you have been on? Without that information, it is difficult to make a suitable suggestion as far as medication is concerned. However, ketogenic diet is something that has been found to be very helpful in refractory and difficult to treat seizures.

I would suggest trying a ketogenic diet. If that is too hard for you to follow, replace it with a modified ketogenic diet. Ketogenic diets are rich in fat, with moderate protein and low carbohydrate content. Reduced carbohydrate in the diet triggers the generation of Ketone bodies during metabolism of fat. Our body can use these ketone bodies in place of glucose to fulfill its energy needs. In fact, certain body parts / organs prefer ketone over glucose as the fuel. Lack of carbohydrates accelerates fat metabolism for increased production of ketone bodies. This results in reduction of the accumulated fat and hence weight. I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you need any further information (with the details I have requested before).
