Suggest Treatment For Frequent Upper Respiratory Infections And Increased Fatigue

I have a 40 year old female client with past history of anemia and low progesterone which was resolved 2 years ago after pregnancyIn past 6 months, she has been extremely prone to upper respiratory infections, has increased fatigue, bruises easily, has decreased appetite, low blood pressure, and postural hypotension. A few weeks ago, she developed hoarseness, followed by coughing, which was treated by antibiotics. Pneumonia ruled out. WBC and RBC both within normal range. Thyroid within normal range. Examined today, and found small quarter size mass less than an inch above navel, which produced pain when palpitated. Patient is still coughing, feels extremely fatigued, and does not have an appetite. she has lost 11 lbs over past 4 months. Not pregnant.Suggestions on possible diagnoses/next steps?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of frequent upper respiratory infections and increased fatigue which is due to upper respiratory tract infection leading to bronchitis/ granular pharyngitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day. Your symptoms will resolve in 1 week. if symptoms keeps on persisting you should consult ENT specialist and take proper treatment. You should get blood test done to rule out Epstein virus infection. You should get X-ray chest done along with pulmonary function tests. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin for at least for 5 days along with decongestant. Avoid use of sharp and spicy food substances. Avoid cold carbonated beverages.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
