Hello Madame,
Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.
A period of observation is recommendable because the functional ovarian cyst usually goes away without treatment.
The treatment of this problem consists on relieving the symptoms and pelvic pain and preventing developing of more cysts by controlling the ovulation with birth control pills.
A pelvic control and an ultrasound are recommendable to see if there are changes at size of the cysts or at their appearance.
A surgical removal of the cyst through a small incision (laparoscopy) may be needed if a painful functional ovarian cyst does not go away despite medical treatment.
If a cyst has an unusual appearance on ultrasound or if you have other risk factors for ovarian cancer, I recommend surgical removal through a larger abdominal incision instead of by using laparoscopy.
These are the treatment that can be made for this condition and I recommend you to go to the gynecologist to follow up with your problem.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Kind regard,
Dr .Marsida JANKO
