R sir/madam I want to quit codistar(same as corex) addiction. I have started it on September 2016 to till now & in a large quantity from started 3-4 bottles of 100 ml in a day. I m really want to quit it as I am facing so much problems with this addiction like fungal infection ,dizziness, sleeplessness, improper digestion, anger nature & now I am feeling that it is now effecting my mental power. So please help me I want quit this addiction from today onwards.
Codistar contains codeine+chlorpheneramine which has addiction potential.
Since you have been using the pretty large amount of the Codistar for a long time, it can be very difficult to come off of it as you may experience withdrawal symptoms.
You can try reducing the dose of Codistar intake gradually over a period of a few weeks before stopping it completely.
If you find it difficult to do it on your own, it is best to seek medical help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
