Suggest Treatment For Gastritis And Stomach Cramps In A 7 Month Old Child

Hi doctor. My son is 7 months old and was breastfed until 6 months and started solids at 4 months and is now on formula. He has always battled with gas and stomach cramps when he sleeps. We have tried remedies like telement colic drops, tummy calm and have even changed his formula to Novalac AC but nothing seems to be helping. He seems to be ok during the day but wakes up screaming at night, passes gas and then often goes back to sleep. I really don t enjoy seeing him in such distress and any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of gastritis and stomach cramps which can be due to stomach infection or food poisoning. It could be due to poor digestion and impaired metabolism of body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take Loperamide or Furazolidone. Drink plenty of fluids and also take oral rehydration salts to recover for electrolyte loss. For stomach cramps you can take antispasmodics. Take more of probiotics like Yoghurt in diet. Take a soft and light diet. I symptoms keep son persisting visit gastroenterologist once and get complete examination done. Start treatment after complete prescription.
