Suggest Treatment For Genital Warts When Diagnosed With Balanitis

Hello, I was recently diagnosed with genital warts. My doctor stated that they are non venereal. I had balanitis which caused a small lesion. My wife and I had intercourse towards the end of her menses and per the doctor, bacteria from her flow must have gotten into the open sore and caused the warts. Is this possible, or is it most likely caused by HPV? All other STI testing were negative. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The warts are mainly caused by HPV virus which can't be diagnosed with normal STD tests but with HPV tests. The treatment consists by using Podophyline lotion in order to remove them. It is usually used by doctors.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
