Suggest Treatment For Growing Lump On Forehead Post Injury

Hi My 7 year old son hit his forehead very hard one week ago. A bump appeared immediately which went on to quadruple in size taking over 75 percent of his forehead by the evening. He was checked and is not concussed. The swelling has since moved and dispersed and even though no injury to his eyes, he has two black eyes and cannot open them fully due to the swelling/fluid. My question. .. We are due to take a 2.5 hour flight in 4 days...so this safe?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to the injury. I suggest using an over the counter anti inflammatory medications such as Tylenol. I also suggest to use cold compresses for local application. It is recommended to rest, so in my opinion the flight is inappropriate.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
