Gutka consists of tobacco. Nicotine is main constituent of tobacco. It is a highly addictive substance and is responsible for gutka addiction. Abrupt cessation of gutka will result in rebound increase of anxiety so to prevent withdrawal and craving gradual tapering should be done. Consult a psychiatrist for expert opinion. Medicines like Bupropion, Buspirone can be used to decrease anxiety and these medicines also reduce craving for tobacco.
To replenish amount of nicotine gums containing nicotine are used to prevent acute withdrawal. Usually doses of 0.1-0.4 mg are sufficient. Consult a psychiatrist for detailed treatment. Keep yourself motivated and you will be free of gutka in about 4-6 weeks
Thanks
