Suggest Treatment For Hair Fall Along With Oily Skin And Scalp

Hi Dr Rynne, I am a 29 year old woman from India. I don t know if you are the right person to ask questions about dermatology. I have as terrible hairfall which looks I am half bald. My scalp is extremely oily and I have to wash it daily. My skin is oily too and as a result I get the worst acne breakouts. Have consulted a number of dermats and tried different medications including home remedies but nothing has helped.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It seems that you may be having dandruff(fungal infection of the scalp)as it is too oily.
Try to keep it dry as far as possible.

Apply hot olive oil mixed with castor oil and massage your scalp, leave it overnight and wash it off with an anti-fungal shampoo like ketoconazole.Repeat it twice a week.

Apply a mild shampoo daily(which suits you)to keep your scalp dry.
You can also use a serum to prevent your hair from getting dry and frizzy.

Also take some vitamin supplements containing biotin, zinc and folic acid which if deficient may lead to excess hairfall.

If these measures fail, get your thyroid profile checked.
Take care
