Suggest Treatment For Hair Loss In A Teenager

My daughter just turned 12 and she has been experiencing hair loss and is always cold. She is extremely underweight...64 lbs at 12 years of age. Her T3 free levels came back at 4.2 and her T4 free came back at .86. Her Tsh is 5.61. Are these in normal range? Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to dandruff or fungal infection.

For that, I would suggest you use an anti-dandruff shampoo.

You may require minoxidil gel after Dermatologist consultation.

Take a regular head bath. You may require clotrimazole shampoo.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale, Family and general physician
