Hi I have been having hairpain for almost 3 years now, it feels like it would if it had been tied tight in a band all day and let down. It is very painful to touch and when the hair moves sometimes it s even painful when the wind blows on it, the pain is mostly in the crown area but can often be all over. The pain seems to come wither I have my hair up/down clean or dirty.Tried numerous different shampoo s even medicated one from the doctor. I have no idea what the problem is but it s gotten progressively worse I am no having regular headaches after touching/brushing/washing etc. There is No redness in the area or hair loss I have thick hair which hasn t been thinning.

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I read carefully your question and understand your concern.

Your symptoms seems to be related to a hypersensitivity of your scalp skin, which contains the hair roots, which usually occurs in tension type headache.

I would recommend consulting with an neurologist for a careful physical examination and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, inflammation tests, blood electrolytes) to exclude other secondary causes of headache.

Regarding the therapy, I would recommend stating on an antidepressant (like amytriptiline, paroxetine, sertraline, etc.), which are very helpful in chronic headache associated with this symptomatology.

Hope to have been helpful!

Best regards,

Dr. Aida
