Suggest Treatment For Hard Cataract In Elderly

My sister aged 75 has cataract in one eye and eye surgeon (M.S.) has opined that cataract has become hard and he is not sure about its removal by phaco emulcification. He has suggested to go to dr. J.s. Thind and take his opinion . Is it possible to get the cataract removed at your hospital? Can we come on Saturday by fixing prior appointment ? Please advise.

Hello
It seems from the history that your sister is having hard cataract.
Phacoemulsification in hard cataract can lead to problems like corneal damage as more more phaco energy is required.
Hence it requires a higher end phaco machine and a experienced surgeon.
Hence most surgeons prefer to do manual phacoemulsification or small incision cataract surgery and it is as good as phacoemulsification.
Hence you can consider small incision cataract surgery for your sister which is safer in her case.

Thank you
