Suggest Treatment For Headache And Nose Bleed

Hello, my nose got hit about a week ago and I got a bloody nose. Usually when I get bloody noses I just leave it and it heals by itself but this time was diffrent. The next couple days I couldn t breathe right through my left nostril my nose kept dripping clear fluid and for some reason I kept sneezing a lot. I had a really bad headache the first couple days and it s still a bit sore. Now that the swelling has gone down it looks like my nose is off to the left. Is it broken or fractured? Can it be fixed in an ENT office? And around how much would it cost because I don t think my insurance will cover it. I m trying to get it fixed as soon as I can because I don t want it to heal wrong. Thank you!

Hello dear
Understand your concern
Dripping of clear fluid may be CSF leak. Other causes i suggests are rhinitis, meningitis.
I advice you to ENT/surgeon as early as possible and get the done following examination:
Beta transferrin test to confirm CSF, XRAY or CT scan of Skull to exclude the head injury, and CSF examination should be done to rule out meningitis.
Also check your blood pressor.
Doctor will give following advice:
Meanwhile take the following advice:
Take bed rest, Head rise about 15-30 degree, Decreased excertion, Avoid sneezing, coughing, Antibiotics; cefuroxime
Diuretics like acetazolamide can be useful.
For Nose bleed:
Following are the treatment of severe nose bleed.
1. Sit down, pinch your nose just above nostrils for 15-20 minutes
2. Relive after 15 minutes and again after 5 minutes pinch it again till the bleeding stops
3. Take breath through mouth.
4. Do not blow through nose
5. Apply cold pack on your nose: it constricts your nose blood vessels
6. Do not lie down flat and avoid strenuous exercise like weight lifting.
7. Tablet or injection of Diclofenac + paracetamol for headache
7. If note resolved you should take vitamin K injection.

Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
