My right eye feels like it has something in it and doesn t always focus just right. The numbness goes up to the very bottom of the eye. I have nausea, and have vomited periodically over the last five days. I went to the EM they said Temporial arteritis gave ,e Hydrcodone 7.5/325, Zofran, and predisone. Followed up with my regular doctors office, saw a new APN, she said a type if neuralgia after consulting with the doctor and prescribed Acyclovir in addition to earlier prescriptions. It s been five days and I m no better. My eye doesn t focus correctly , my face itches and even though I scratch it, the itch is still there. I m 72 and in fairly good health otherwise. All I want to do is sleep. Am very thirsty all the time and although I have dentures my lower jaw aches like I have a tooth achel

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Cannot say in your particular case, but generally, this is what Bell's palsy is like and it takes weeks to get better. Pills that damp down the nerves are often used in nerve pain. These include Lidocaine, Amitryptiline, any anti-epileptic, and Cymbalta. They do not include narcotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman,
