Suggest Treatment For Headache And Numbness In The Face
I have headaches since last May which started numbness on L side of face. It was occasionally, now almost everyday headaches. It might start with itchy sensation sometimes, but not always. It is painful when I touch my sculp, but there is no inflammation, or bump. Also, have numbness in my both hands at only night which awakens me after 3-4 hrs later sleep. I had MRI neck, head- normal. Carpel tunnel ruled out. Is any suggestion? What I have to check? Thank you
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Since you have had tests like MRI and ENG then a neurological damage is very unlikely. It is probable that the numbness you feel in both hands is due to anxiety which is also commonly associated with the most common primary headache, tension type headache (primary meaning with no identifiable cause). Some blood tests to check for electrolyte levels, thyroid function and vitamin B12 levels should be done but probably have already been prescribed. I would consider in that case a trial of an antianxiety medication, preferably amitriptyline which apart from anxiety helps in tension type headache prevention.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
