Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Treatment For Headache And Painful Lump Behind The Head
So, recently I discovered a lump, or a knot on the back of my head, pretty much level with my ears. I haven t hit my head or anything. It s really painful, and I have terrible headaches. I have a high pain tolerance so the fact that this knot is bugging me so much, really scares me. Do you have an idea what this could be?
I have gone through your query, i will try to give you suggestion which will be helpful to you. The lump could be folliculitis which means infection of hairfollicles, enlarged lymphnode or a hematoma which might have occurred of minor injury which you are not aware of. Lymph node swelling could be reactive or nonspecific lymphadenitis. I advise you to take a course of antibiotics for the above and see whether the swelling reduces in size. You can take over the counter analgesics for pain relief. This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.
I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you. I will be glad to help you in case if you have any further queries.
Wish you speedy recovery. Take care.
