Suggest Treatment For Headache Despite Taking Naproxen

My head is hurting so badly, I can hardly stand it. It is just on the left side. It woke me up about an hour ago pounding. I ve taken naproxen without relief and massaged it with Vicks Vaporub. Never had anything like this before. Should I go to the ER or wait until morning and go to MD?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can take analgesics like Tramadol/Acetaminophen combination which will provide better pain relief when compared to other routine pain killers. It could be migraine attack and consult your neurologist in case of persistent pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
