Suggest Treatment For Headache, Fever And Sore Throat In An Infant
Over the last 6 months, my 8 y/o grandson has complained of a headache, fever (101+), and sore throat on at least 7 occasions. When he spikes a temperature all he wants to do is sleep. His strep screen and mono tests have come back negative. There are no other symptoms; no cough, runny nose, or anything else. After 2-3 days he is better but 3 weeks later he experiences the same thing again. I feel it s time for his physician to do other testing but she keeps sending him home with Motrin and says it s a virus. No one in the home other than him gets sick. I think the doctor is missing something. Any suggestions.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your grandson have symptoms of headache, fever and sore throat which seems to be due to viral infection. High grade fever of value 101 is because your immunity is lower down because of infection. Need not to worry. You should take paracetamol to prevent fever and combination of decongestants and multivitamin tablet. Your symptoms will resolve in 5-7 days. Avoid touching eyes, nose again and again. If your symptoms keeps on persisting the visit general physician once and get vaccination done. You should start treatment after complete examination. Antibiotics will not give much relief to you as yours symptoms are more like viral infection. You should take proper course of antiviral medications.
