Suggest Treatment For Headache, Nausea And Abdominal Pain

My son has had a headache, nausea, and stomach pains for the last 3 days. He threw up the other day and periodically says he feels like he needs to throw up. He has had regular bowel movements. He doesn t have a fever. He had something similar on and off a few months ago and the doctor gave him Miralax because she thought he might be constipated, but he doesn t have symptoms of being constipated. Should I be concerned and take him to the doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are many reasons behind these consistent symptoms of nausea, headache and abdominal pain, like food poisoning, disorders that are related to any intraabdominal organ.

Whenever a patient comes to me with such symptoms after thorough examination and history I advice him to undergo an ultrasound of abdomen and routine blood tests. Once the test results come I suggest further treatment options.

For your son, it's important to treat the symptoms he is having now so that he can feel some relief.

So my advice to you is take him to ER so that appropriate medicines will be given to him for pain management and all necessary tests will be adviced by your doctor.

After that, your doctor will decide the best treatment by looking at the tests results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
