Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Please help me. I am under the care of a neurologist for symptoms which have been ongoing for almost 4 years now. In summary, I developed right sided chest pains radiating to my throat and back at the onset. This was not related to exertion or any aggravating or relieving factors. The pain feels like a terrible cramp / gripping sensation and can come on at any time and last for minutes to hours. I have since developed symptoms of dizziness, not vertigo, but feel as if I am drunk or off balance. I have headaches which feel as though I have an increasing pressure inside my head or as though I am upside down! I alo experience tingling in my left arm and hand and intermittent aching as though I have slept on my arm. . Sometimes both arms feel weak . I am also getting epsisodes of feeling I have something stuck in my throat and cough up clear mucous at times. I had ecg s, CXR, CT chest and blood tests which were all normal. My MRI head showed a lesion in the corpus callosum but of uncertain significance. I have had a barium swallow which showed a little delayed gastric emptying and oesoogageal ph studies which were normal but am awaiting 24hr oesoogageal manometry as the static manometry revealed increased pressure at the distal oesophagus so could suggest oesophageal spasm. Could this all be neurological?. Could this be MS. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Thank you
• Vertigo is a symptom, rather than a condition itself and treatment depends on right cause. You should see your GP if you have persistent signs of vertigo or it keeps coming back.
Medicines, such as prochlorperazine and some antihistamines, can help in the early stages or most cases of vertigo.
Also, we recommend: do simple exercises to correct your symptoms, sleep with your head slightly raised on two or more pillows, avoid bending down to pick up items, avoid extending your neck – for example, while reaching up to a high shelf.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,

Suggest Treatment For Headaches And Vertigo
Hi, • Vertigo is a symptom, rather than a condition itself and treatment depends on right cause. You should see your GP if you have persistent signs of vertigo or it keeps coming back. Causes of vertigo may include benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, migraines – severe headaches, labyrinthitis – an inner ear infection.
