Suggest Treatment For Hearing Loss After Using Q-tip
Hi...my daughter and boyfriend is in Costa Rica, he was trying to get wax out of his ear with a q- tip and of course pushed the wax further in. It also started bleeding, enough to leave a small puddle on the pillow over night. He has no pain, but today he is miserable because he can't hear. They are nervous about going to a Dr. In a foreign country, any suggestions?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain understood your query regarding hearing loss due to deeper penetration of q-tip in ear.. It seems that due to deeper penetration of q-tip there is perforation of the ear drum and it is the cause for loss of hearing.. You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get a thorough otoscopic evaluation done and in case of perforated ear drum if the perforation is small it can be healed by antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibupofen, decongestant nasal sprays and antibiotic ear drops.. In large perforations surgical patching has to be done..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
