Suggest Treatment For Heart Functioning At 25-30% And Rapid Heart Beats

my father is almost 85. he had three open heart surgeries last year and his function was 40% after the surgeries. His function is now 25-30% with rapid heart beats and he is getting a pace maker and difibulator in two days. Will this help his survival rate?

Hi There

After going through your query I understand your concern about your Father

I would like to tell your That as your father is having severe LV dysfunction (25-30%) pacemaker with defibrillator is highly recommended as it will help in synchronizing the cardiac rhythm which will ultimately lead to an initial 10-15% improvement in heart function thereby improving the symptoms of patient. The difibrilator will help in preventing sudden cardiac death due to cardiac arrhythmias which is a common life threatening complication of ischemic LV dysfunction .

Yes go ahead with it as it will improve the prognosis.

Kind Regards
