Hello and thank you for using HCM. I carefully read your question and i understand your concern. You should not worry.
A mitral valve prolaps is quite normal in females. It is an anatomic variation of the mitral valve leaflet. It is advisable that if you feel any symptom you should chek your self with an echo-cardiography, because in some cases with passing of time these abnormal leaflets might lead to
mitral regurgitation. This means that your valve might leak a little beat.
It is quite known in cardiology that femails with prolapse experience heart palpitations but that are not serious. But it is always advisable to chek for possible causes.
Someone might experience heart palpitations for different reasons. Sometimes some problems like
anemia,
hyperthyroidism cause
tachycardia and this kind of palpitations.
This is why your doctors are doing your thyroid hormones to exclude a possible problem.
I would advise all sow a holter monitoring to see what happen with your rhythm. It might be nothing.
So, don't worry and just do this simple chek up.
Hope I was helpful. Best regards
