Suggest Treatment For Heart Palpitations With High Bp

hi, i had my bp taken tonight as i have been feeling light headed and also had some heart palpitations and it came back 154/103, repeated the process after 15 mins and it came back 140/96, heart rate was 105, should i be worried? i am over weight but not by much.

Thanks for your query.
Before starting treatment for palpitations it is essential to determine the type of heart rhythm responsible for palpitation. An ECG at time of palpitation or 24 hours holter monitoring (provided they occur everyday or so) may pick it up. A baseline ECG is an essential.
Most of the time they are premature contractions. When not associated with any structural heart disease (on cardiac ultrasound) they need little treatment. Reassurance or a simple tablet of beta-blockers.
