Suggest Treatment For Heartburn And Radiating Pain In Diaphragm
Last night I had extreme pain radiating from (I think) my diaphragm. it started out a very sharp, burning pain then seemed to spread sideways and eventually felt like extreme pressure. The pain was almost unbearable - I felt nauseous briefly, but really just in horrible pain for a couple of hours. This is the 4th time it s happened....I ve called 911 twice, but heart checks out fine....I cannot imagine it could be heartburn as the pain was worse than childbirth! I am a 46 year old female, about 150lbs, 5 4 .

This type of swallowing difficulty may indicate a specific condition called hiatal hernia should be considered and this means that the stomach is protruding through diaphragm muscle.
It may cause breathing difficulties, nausea, swallowing difficulties and irritation of the stomach. It will also be aggravated by certain food or medications, stress and smoking. You need to avoid fried food, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol and spicy food. You should eat more milk products, vegetables and boiled food. Also, certain antiacid medications may be required and as the last option, it is possible to perform surgical repair of hernia especially if there are progressive respiratory discomfort and dyspepsia. To diagnose it you should do gastroscopy and if this is negative as in your case then you should do contrast x-rays of the stomach.
