Suggest Treatment For Heat Rashes On Thigh And Knee

I have rushes of heat in my left medial thigh which are becoming more frequent. This happened last year in my left medial calf and just above the knee. Right after that I developed edema in the ankle and calf of that leg after a long plane ride. The edem has improved, but not gone away. I believe that this is related to the loss of lymph nodes in my abdomen when I had a hysterectomy because of uterine cancer 2 yrs ago. I also had 6 wks of radiation. I have become more concerned as last night I had the heat rush on the lateral side of same thigh.

Hello,

You are suffering from heat rashes on thighs and knee. You have history of hysterectomy. Hysterectomy should not be the only cause of rashes. Could be infection, hormonal, contact dermatitis, seborrhea, intertrigo, etc. This would be worth getting medically assessed.

Heat rash occurs where skin touches skin and occurs when sweat glands become blocked. Keep the area dry and clean. Make sure you thoroughly dry yourself after bathing, change your clothes as soon as possible after you’ve gotten sweaty. Dressing appropriately, do not overdress. It can lead to rashes. Take bath with temperate water.

Avoiding sharing personal items. Especially items like towels or clothing and toiletries. Apply cool compresses to soothe irritation and reduce itching. Oatmeal baths are helpful. To get relieve apply hydrocortisone cream on the area affected. Take antihistamines to help relieve itching. Avoid anything that is irritating to your skin.

When skin rubs against skin, as can happen with the inner thighs, irritation and even blistering can ensue. Rashes caused by fungal infections are treated with antifungal ointments. It can be due to contact dermatitis. Avoid harsh soaps and beauty products. Wear soft cotton clothes. Get clinically examined by your Gynae or GP, get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
