Suggest Treatment For Heaviness And Pain In Head After Treated Sinus

Hello Doctor, my brother had sinus problem (left side of the head) a week before and has taken antibiotic treatment for 5 days. Since then he had mild headache on the right side too. He has been taking steam inhalation for the past few nights before bed. However the pain is not reducing. Now he is finding a lot of heaviness in the head like water bag and also burning / heat sensation punching within the entire forehead. Please advise.

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I carefully read your question and would explain that 5 days antibiotics are not enough for the treatment of sinus infection.

From the other hand, the facts that his symptoms have worsened means that the antibiotic is not really effective against the infectious agent which has caused the sinus infection.

I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical exam, a sinus X ray study, a complete blood count and a bacterial culture of the sinus discharge, to possibly find the causative agent and the proper treatment.

Hope to have been helpful!

Greetings!
Dr. Aida
