Suggest Treatment For Hemorrhoid During Pregnancy

I am a 28 yr old pregnant woman with a hemorrhoid, I have already informed my OB and they told me pretty much that I have to let it either go away on it s own or lance it, well I chose to let it go away on it s own because i have already been to the ER 3 times since being pregnant with hyperemesis gravidarium and I really don t want to go back unless I have to. It has been day 4 and it has went from being purple back to being pink but it has an oblong black spot on it. Should I be concerned?

Dear Madam,

During pregnancy, the levels of Progesterone hormone are very high. This hormone relaxes the smooth muscles which leads to constipation. The blood vessels in the rectum also get relaxed. Thus staining due constipation pushes the relaxed blood vessels causing them to prolapse out of the rectum. This is haemorrhoids.

If they are not bleeding, you can manage them conservatively by taking stools softner and avoiding constipation and straining for the stools. Include plenty of roughage through green leafy vegetables and fruits to make the stools soft. However, if they start bleeding, you will have to get them operated.

Bleeding haemorrhoids may make you anaemic. Hence, take your decision with scientific thoughts, which I have provided you.
