Hi my dad is 88 weight 165 has a hernia was going to have surgery tomorrow, but not feeling well upper stomach said very uncomfortable last night had to sleep in his chair. Has a pace maker, blood pressure low 110/59. Dr. Said keg came back ok and did a chest tray nothing shows up. Stopped surgery tomorrow. Will visit heart Dr. Before. But now says hernia hurts. Very agitated about any little things. Could it be bad to postpone surgery until Oct. 15th.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what your father had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, the agitation can be due to postponed surgery or discomfort relating to hernia but the possibility of sepsis should be ruled out as elderly may present with such symptoms for an infection rather than the usual inflammatory response in Young's.

It's better to repeat blood counts too and inflammatory markers. Cardiologist opinion may be sought but medical specialist should also be consulted once at least.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
