Suggest Treatment For High BP And Palpitations While On Hydrochlorothiazide
I am a 46-year-old female and I started taking hydorchlorithizide, 12.5 mg four days ago. It was prescribed to me a year ago for high blood pressure. I started having blood pressures of 135/92 and was experiencing hot face with palpitations and feeling funny. I am still experiencing the same symptoms.
2. Palpitations you are feeling and hot face are due to: - oscillations in blood pressure - hormonal changes (pre/menopause).
3. Hormonal balance (female and thyroid hormones levels) is advised to run to rule out hormonal changes.
4. Meanwhile, I advise to: - avoid salty/oily or any other foods/drinks that would trigger spikes in blood pressure - avoid caffeinated drinks - discuss with your doctor to increase the dose of hydrochlorothiazide and/or to start another medication - take chamomile/valerian/aloe vera tea/supplementation
Hi welcome to HCM. High blood pressure in your case has to be managed with combination of antihypertensives like ace inhibitors like ramipril and diuretics like hydrochlorothiazide. This combination can be effectively used to control the blood pressure.Hot flushes can be controlled by hormone replacement therapy with estrogen.Palpitations can be safely treated with beta blockers like propranolol.Regular physical exercise can help to combat most symptoms.Consult your cardiologist for further queries. Thank you.
