Suggest Treatment For High BP And Severe Allergic Reaction To Medicines

Hi, I have accute high blood pressure and have had severe allergic reactions to most of the medication apart from Quinapril 2x5mgs twice daily and bendrofluazide 5mg daily. My blood pressure at its lowest is 151/70 and at its highest 213/78 even taking these pills and I have found that if I increase the dosage the blood pressure goes even higher . At the moment I feel very unwell with headaches, tingling in the head very giddy and anxious with difficulty breathing.....I am sick of Doctors warming me of heart attacks and strokes when after 18 months I am still in this position....regards Carmel

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my surgical experience, the high BP can be from various reasons and one main factor behind lower response to drugs is renal artery stenosis or narrowing.

* The way to handle allergic reaction is to avoid the susceptible molecule and when it occurs, rush to ER for injection of epinephrine or others as per need.

Minor drug reactions do respond to oral molecules as diphenhydramine or else.

* For BP molecule adjustment of dose or molecule alteration, it is strongly recommended to discuss the issue in details with your treating physician rather than online platform.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
