Suggest Treatment For High BP In An Elderly Person.

having trouble with high blood pressure in an elderly person. was on spiralactone and labetalol doing good. had a fall broke her shoulder and had replacement done. blood pressure went up. doctor changed meds to correct high bp. ended up with coreg and spiralactone. she seems to have trouble breathing and a bad cough for the last two weeks. they have done chest x rays, nothing there but thought she had brohncitis. gave her a z pac to get rid of congestion. charge nurse says she hears something getting loose, but cough is worse than before. I think it is result of the coreg, doctor does not agree.

Hi,

Coreg or carvedilol cause in 5% cough and 3% of patients can be breathlessness, do his sputum or better one is bronchoalveolar lavage test examination it will rule out any causes, and ECG and echocardiography can help in diagnosis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
