Suggest Treatment For High BP In An Elderly Person

My mother is 86 and had a visit with dr. today - her bp was 210 over 110. I think this is dangerous for her. We live in high altitude Colorado - 6025 ft. He just told her she s ok and let her drive home. Was this correct or are we freaking out about nothing???We have looked this up on the internet - one site said it s ok if your older than 75 but dangerous if you are younger. Another site said this is an emergency situation and need to go to er? We are confused.
