Suggest Treatment For High BP While Suffering Upper Respiratory Infection

I have recently had high blood pressure with BP ranging from152/124 pulse 112 to 129/83 pulse 105. This is very high for me. I am usually 120s/80s. I went to the hospital and had an EKG and blood work to check my heart enzymes all good . I have been sick for 2 weeks with a upper respiratory infection. Was on Amoxycillin fora week. Changed to Levoquin today. Still feel so tired. Any thoughts

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

This high blood pressure could be related to both respiratory infection and use of Amoxicillin. However, if I was your caring doctor would ask to keep monitoring your blood pressure (BP) although you are on Levoquin now. Plus, ask your doctor to run thyroid function test and blood electrolyte, urine analysis and liver / kidney function test to see if there is any changes, and treat it adequately. Meanwhile, keep well hydrated, have your meals regularly with healthy foods.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
