Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am on medication for high blood pressure. I recently had the meds dropped from 10mg to 5mg of ramipril. I quit smoking 2 months ago, and have been following a low salt diet, and recently cut out my caffiene from my diet as well. I have been experiencing alot of light headness, and a bit if shortness of breath. I have been to the hospital emergency room in the past with these symtoms, and they tell me I am having anxiety attacks, and or my body is getting use to the meds. Is there something I can do to control these symptons?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. It is better to monitor BP morning and evening. If there is lowering of BP even less than normal then your medication should be readjusted or changed to some other drug. Anxiety can be managed by stress relaxing exercises like breathing exercise. You can sit relaxed and take deep breaths. If that is not helping then short course anxiolytics by your doctors advise will be helpful. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
