Thank you for the query.
As per the provided information, you are 40yrs, with a BMI of 26.5kg/m2 (
overweight) with
hypertension (controlled with medication) and deranged
lipid profile.
Your BP is fairly controlled with medication, hence I would not comment on it. However, your lipid profile is not desirable. Ideally, your
total cholesterol should be less than 200mg%, and LDL should be less than 120mg% (some physicians prefer it to be below 100mg%). To achieve this you have to definitely control your diet (restriction of
saturated fat intake, refined
carbohydrate and alcohol). Daily exercise regimen (which you are already following will help). Your BMI should be preferably below 25kg/m2. If you are a smoker, I am afraid you have to quit it. You can take Cod
liver oil tablet, may act as a source of vitamin D and anti-oxidant. However, I will suggest you to start on low dose medications, statins. They will help to reduce the cholesterol level, and will prevent complications associated with deranged lipid profile. In case you dont want to start medications, you can continue your diet/exercise regimen for 2-3 months, and recheck your lipid profile after that. If it gets controlled then it is fine, but if it is persistently raised, you will need to start medicines.
Please consult your treating doctor for further advise and plan of management.
Hope this helps you out.

Dr. Ayusmati Thakur
