Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm 39 checked my blood pressure for the first time in months last night and it was 140/70. I've started eating right lots of fruits, vegetables, lean meat. I've lost 8 lbs in 4 weeks. I'm heavy and smoke (yes I need to stop). Question: When I saw that blood pressure reading I got scared, should I see my doctor immediately or just monitor, and see if it improves and was just a high reading.
I understand your concern and for your kind information I wanna tell you that your Bp is perfectly normal as the recommended normal range of BP for an adult is upto 140/90 mmhg. So just try and maintain healthy lifestyle and quit smoking as early possible. There is no need to see a doctor immediately. You can also monitor your BP once a day at same time for a week.
Wish you Good Health
