Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am type II diabetic for the past 4 years with Blood glucose levels fasting around 125 and PP around 180. I have been taking 1 tablet of metformin 500mg everyday. Recently I have 230 and 340 respectively. My doctor advised Isatamet 50/1000 mg two tablets eachday and asked to be reviewed after a month. The other tests for kidneys, eyes are good. Can i reduce the medicine dosage if the blood glucose levels come back to normal after i take the medicines and follow the diet and exercise properly
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, the glucose level need to be controlled on tight rule basis, once the blood glucose level comes under the control then no need to reduce the dose of medicines, but need to be continued as it is being adjusted, hope this information helps, take care.
