Suggest Treatment For High Blood Sugar, Swollen Legs And Shortness Of Breath

My husband is having a hard time keeping his sugar levels level, swelling in his legs, pain in feet and legs, shortness of breath, and when he went in the other day for a blood pressure check it was 120/80 but his heart rate was 130. He talked to his Dr. today and he told him that that is signs of heart failure. What can he do on his own to fix some of his issues?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

An increase in heart rate can occur heart failure but also occurs in other heart conditions as well, an ECG to look for changes, should be done.

It can also occur in thyroid disease and anemia as well so a blood test to check for these should be considered.

His diabetic medications should be reassessed to try to optimize control and he may also need to see a dietician to see if any changes need to be made to his diet to help with his sugar levels.

Medication to help get rid of the excess fluid in the legs and lungs (if he does have heart failure), would be needed.

I hope this helps
