Suggest Treatment For High Cholesterol, Joints Pain And Severe Hip Pain

I have high cholesterol, moderate joint and back discomfort, sometimes gout-like flare-ups of toe joints (uric acid is fine), severe hip pains that was diagnosed as consistent with avascular necrosis and subsequently subsided acid re-flux, bowel movements that start hard and end soft, sometimes with mucus discharge after movement. The joint discomfort and the digestive problems come and go in waves. I was told to change my diet low fodmap diet and control cholesterol with crestor. Any ideas what is going on?

Hello,

You have joint and back pain and hip pain, toe joints pain, acid reflux and high cholesterol. A few probable causes of joint pain are rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica and viral polyarthritis.

To those patients who come to my clinic with similar complaints, I recommend tab. Atorvastatin 20 mg once daily for reducing cholesterol, tab. Ibuprofen or Aceclofenac twice daily for 10 days to reduce pain in joints, tab. Pantop 40 mg once daily before food and physiotherapy of affected joints.

Do daily exercise for 30 mins for at least 5 days a week. Have a healthy and nutritious diet. If the acid reflux pain is severe, OMEZ insta sachet can be mixed in half glass water and to be consumed. Do not lie down immediately after having food. Head up position during sleep to prevent reflux. Consume fiber rich foods to decrease cholesterol. MRI hip joint would reveal if there is any avascular necrosis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
