Suggest Treatment For High Fever Caused After A Dog Bite

My daughter was nail scratched by a 3 months old dog that her friend got a day before. They confirm to me that the dog was vaccinated before they got it. But I haven t seen a vaccination report myself. My daughter got high fever afterwards. She did blood, urine and stool tests. Results show bacterial infection. Any relation? What shall I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It can be acute infection which may or may not be related to the scratch. It doesn't seem to be any sign relating to rabies etc yet but local wound infection should be ruled out. Usually antibiotics like penicillins are very effective in post animal bite or scratches and may be helpful. However vaccination status for rabies should be confirmed and anti-rabies vaccination may be given.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
