Suggest Treatment For High Fever, Cough And Headaches

Hello Doctor, my grandson is 10 yrs old . He was seen twice in ER and once in urgent care for high fever of 101 to 104.2. No cough, colds except for persistent headaches and high fever since Saturday, and was seen in ER today again because of same symptoms. All his lab works and chest X-ray were all normal. Blood culture was drawn but the result will be available in 48 hrs. The Drs are not sure what s wrong with my grandson. He spikes a temperature of 101 to 104.2 almost every 4 hrs. We give Motrin 400 mg q6 hrS for his fever and headache. In addition, we give sponge bath and showers the high fever. He is very uncomfortable. What do you think is wrong with my grandson. Please help, Doctor! Thank you

Fever is a symptom of an underlying disease. There are many causes of fever such as malaria, typhoid, infectious mononucleosis, TB, Dengue etc.
Advice
1.     Azithromycin 500 mg daily per oral for 5 days
2.     Paracetamol 500 mg if fever occurs
3.     Take liquid diet
4.     Drink 4 – 5 liters of water daily
5.     Cold water sponging if fever is more than 100 degree Farenheight
6.     Investigations – CBC, Widal test, blood smear for malarial parasite, and dengue NS1 antigen
Consult a doctor with reports if fever is not relieved by above measures.
