Suggest Treatment For High Fever In A Child
Hi Doctor, My daughter is 3 yrs old. She is been having fever for over 1 and half week. My GP mentioned that she has tonsillitis so she needs to given antibiotics. Her fever is not dropping to normal body temperature. I been administrating antibiotic 4 times in a day+ panadol alternated with Nurofen. He urine test is clear.no blood test done. She is hardly eating any food. Hardly drinking any fluids. Please advise me on it.

The pain from the tonsillitis would prevent her from wanting to eat. Once she is drinking enough fluids to prevent dehydration, this is ok.
Her appetite will return when she feels well.
If she has taken a few days of antibiotics with no improvement then it may be best to take her back for a review.
It is possible that the infection is not responding to the antibiotics given and she may need an alternative.
