Suggest Treatment For High Fever In A Child

My daughter is 5 years and her fever increased to 102.5 even after giving crocine. As recommended by doctor we changed the medicine to maftal p ( 5ml) and just gave only one dose and her fever is down to 99.4. Shall we continue maftal p for 3 days or switch to crocine Regards

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Fever in a child with no other associated symptoms is mostly of infectious origin and should always be investigated. UTIs and respiratory infections are very common with digestive disorders.
Fever responded to to maftal which is an anti-inflammatory suggesting that the fever was likely of inflammatory origin.Since the temperature of the child is down, i will suggest you just observe if it will rise again as you may mask the infection if any with more drugs. If fever recurs, you take the child to the Doctor for investigation.A blood culture, urinalysis and stool exam may help identify the problem if the child can not give any diagnostic orientation.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
