Suggest Treatment For Hip Fracture

my dad is 73 and has a difficult 6 months. he was active and healthy but fell from a ladder and broke 5 bones - June - including hip which kept him immobile (no surgery) for 8 weeks. he was on the comeback from that (at 60%) and had emergency open heart surgery for a torn aorta (12 hour surgery.) He then had an abdominal aneurysm repaired - under for another 4 hours - this was just 2 weeks ago.
he is having terrible dementia problems and had none before all of this. I realize this is a lot to go through physically at his age, and that he was under anesthesia for long periods of time, but we are at a loss as to how to help him. Are there any supplements or medications that may help?
