Suggest Treatment For Hives And Burning Itching Skin

I had a moderate to severe breakout of hives 4 days ago and have burning, itching skin. I went to an urgent care clinic and was given a 75mg dose of Prednisone and a prescription for the same. The prednisone did not help and I seemed to have an allergic reaction to it. I have one finger joint and toe joint on the same side of the body that are painful and swollen. I stopped taking the Prednisone after only 2 more doses (75mg Thurs, 50 mg Friday). My skin is still extremely hot, itchy and uncomfortable. Is there something more I can do? Calamine lotion doesn t offer much relief and I ve tried several home remedies (cool shower, bathing in oatmeal, baking soda/water paste, etc)

Hello,

By your history and description, possibility of acute allergic dermatitis is more likely.

It will be of great help if you can send me picture of your skin lesions. You can start momatasone cream for local application and oral combination of montelukast and fexofenadine for itching and allergies.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
