Suggest Treatment For Hives On Neck, Jawline, Upper Arms And Chest

Hi I am randomly getting hives on neck, jaw line, upper arms and chest. They come and go, but it has been a month and I can not seem to get rid of them. I have been to a primary care Dr. twice and received steroids and a cortisone shot which helped, but that was about a week ago and they are back to the way they were again. I made an appointment with a dermatologist, but is this something I should be worried about. I just want them to go away.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM team.

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query .Hives are result of fluid accumulation (angiodema)in the facial tissue due to various factors .Hives are produced on face when facial skin come in contact with factor or allergen that doesn't suit facial skin like excessive exposure to sun, drug allergy ,food allergy, insect bite or certain infection.

Some time hives results in breathing problem which is a form of medical emergency.

The best thing you can do is remove trigger factor .Hives are best treated with antihistamines and corticosteroids (as you already taking)

There are some home remedies which will be extremely helpful like wash your face 3-4 times a day with cold water this will prevent burning sensation, try to keep you head above your heart while sleeping with the help of pillows this will reduce swelling , apply cold compresses and avoid sun exposure.

Your doctor (dermatologist)may also give you adrenaline injection if condition get worse.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes,
